Free Pizza and Amazing Service: Review of Stoked Pizza Co Boston

For our final dinner in Boston, I chose to eat at Stoked Pizza Co. Our hotel that night was located in Cambridge, and Stoked Pizza had just opened a second outpost of their well-known restaurant nearby. It sounded great, and after discovering how good Neapolitan pizza is in Denver last year, I was eager to eat it again.

Due to the lighting in the restaurant, it was a little hard to photograph the menu well, but the online menu is accurate and I’ve linked it here. The original Brookline location has a very similar location, so you can’t go wrong eating at either spot.

To start, I ordered the Crispy Cheese Ravioli, which I had seen people raving about online. It was warm and filling, and the crispiness was perfect. The marinara sauce it came with also had a strong flavour. If I could critique one thing, it would be to put a little less cheese in the ravioli, but that’s just my personal opinion as I don’t enjoy eating large amounts of cheese.

For my main, I had the Veggie pizza, but substituted the mushrooms for basil oil. The basil oil gave it an extra touch, and I appreciated that there wasn’t too much cheese and sauce. The crust could’ve been a tiny bit crisper, but it was a close-to-perfect pizza.

My dad ordered the pepperoni pizza, plus caramelized onions and garlic. He loved his as well.

Stoked Pizza Co Drinks

I ordered a lemonade, which was nice and sour, a stark contrast from the overly sugared lemonades you find at most restaurants. And for once, it wasn’t equal parts ice and drink: it was more than 75% lemonade.

My dad chose the Dry Dock off the mocktail menu, which was interestingly presented. I loved the creativity they put into their drinks. He also really enjoyed the tropical flavours.

Stoked Pizza Co Dessert

Stoked Pizza only offers one dessert: Carrot Cake. It’s probably a good thing they only have one, because they’ve clearly put a lot of effort into making it taste amazing. I love carrot cake to begin with, but this one was extraordinarily good.

The frosting wasn’t too sweet, the texture was just right, and the strong flavour of the cake worked perfectly for me. I kept saying I was done eating, but then each time went back for more because it was just that good. Seriously, even if you don’t like carrot cake, you should try theirs.

Additionally, once the check was brought out, we were given a plate of complimentary, house-made rice krispy treats. They tasted way better than regular rice krispy treats for sure!

Stoked Pizza Co Ambience

In contrast to my meals the prior two nights, Stoked Pizza had a much more palatable ambience. The music was played softly in the background, tables were distanced, and the noise of people’s chatter wasn’t overwhelming. The restaurant was also kept very clean and bright inside.

Stoked Pizza Co Service

If the meal wasn’t already amazing enough, the service is what made it perfect. For one, we had people constantly checking on us, and they were all super friendly. I didn’t see a single server who didn’t have a smile on their face when helping customers.

But what really impressed me is the way they went over the top to make sure we had a great experience. We were trying to figure out how to best order, as my dad wanted a pizza with meat and I’m vegetarian. There’s no way I could finish a whole pizza by myself, but due to the way the pizzas are cooked, the restaurant doesn’t offer half-and-half.

We were fully prepared to pay for two full pizzas and have leftovers, but seemingly out of nowhere, our waitress offered to give us a free veggie pizza alongside the meat one. Apparently this is a common problem with families or friends wanting different toppings, and their solution is to hand out free pizza. Super impressive! If I lived in Boston, this would definitely want to make me return. Investment in service always results in customer loyalty.

Plus, the complimentary house-made rice krispies given at the end of the meal are something you’d typically find at a higher-end restaurant. Whoever is managing this restaurant genuinely knows how to invest in their guests.

Final Thoughts

The incredible service combined with delicious food made our dinner at Stoked Pizza Co a wonderful experience. Their appetizers and pizza were extremely tasty, but the carrot cake was simply amazing. And I really appreciated their unnecessary gesture of giving us a pizza on the house, which made me want to return on a future trip to Boston. Without doubt, I’d recommend making a reservation at either of their locations if you’re in the area.
